Storing water in a copper utensil and then drinking the same has many health benefits and has become quite popular all around the world. It is a well-known fact that pure copper utensils fade and darken with the passage of time. This is the result of oxidation which is a non-stoppable process. You may have heard that it is very difficult to maintain copper utensils but not anymore. Below we have mentioned some of the easy tips and ways to deep clean your copper vessels.
Lemon and salt method- This is definitely one of the easiest and the most traditional ways available. It is one of the easiest methods as both the ingredients are readily available in the kitchen.
How to clean the inside of the copper water bottle
To clean the copper water bottle from the inside, you need to squeeze half a lemon along with tablespoon salt and ½ cup water. Now put on the lid and shake the bottle vigorously. Pour the mixture into the sink and rinse the bottle thoroughly with water. This will ensure that your water bottle is shinning on the inside as well.
Vinegar and salt method- If you don’t have lemons you can use vinegar instead. Mix one tablespoon salt with two tablespoon vinegar and allow the salt to dissolve into the vinegar. Apply this solution all over the surface of the copper utensil and scrub it with a soft cotton cloth until the stains face away and you can see the surface shine. After rinsing the product, make sure to wipe off the excess water from the surface of the water bottle to avoid water marks.
To clean the water bottle from the inside, pour 2 tbsp. of vinegar, 1 tbsp. of salt and 1 cup water in it. Close the lid of the bottle and shake it vigorously. Drain out the mixture and rinse with plain water.
Baking soda method- Baking soda is another great option for cleaning copper utensils. Baking soda can be used in place of salt with lemon or vinegar and follow the instructions as mentioned above.
Tips to keep in mind
• When not in use, store the copper vessel in a clean and dry place.
• Always wipe off the excess water from the surface of the copper vessel after washing it. This will ensure that water stains do not build up on the copper vessel.
• If you think that your copper vessel is greasy, you can wash them with normal detergent before or after cleaning them with the above mentioned methods.
